- Agreement-score comparison: the share of the five readings pointing the same way (%), an East-versus-West contrast, and a per-area vote of the traditions. This is the signature feature of CrossFates.
- Pick & record: choose the one reading that resonates, save it, and build your own statistics with later feedback.
How to use it, start to finish
- Enter your birth details: Add your birth date (solar calendar), birth time, and gender. Birthplace is optional, and if you do not know your time, noon is used as the basis. These details are saved only in your own browser.
- Open the five readings: On the home screen, cards for saju, tarot, astrology, I Ching, and Ziwei Doushu fan out. All five are free, so open them in whatever order you feel drawn to.
- Read in depth: Each reading has two acts. Act one gives today’s verdict and the stage of that world (the saju chart, the cards, the star map, the hexagram, the myeongban). Act two opens the four areas (Overall, Love, Money, Work) and a deeper interpretation.
- Pick your fortune of the day: Among the readings you have opened, choose the one that resonates most as your fortune of the day. One pick per day, and it stacks on the Past Picks page.
- Check the agreement score: See how many of the five readings point the same direction (the agreement score), how East and West compare, and a short note on why they gathered the way they did.
- Look back: On the Past Picks page, note how the day actually went (good, so-so, or no). Together with your streak, this builds your own running statistics.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How are the readings made? Are they random?
They are not random. We implemented the real method of each tradition in code: the manseryeok (만세력) almanac for saju and I Ching, real astronomical computation for astrology, and the myeongban (命盤) chart for Ziwei Doushu. The same person on the same date always gets the same result, so refreshing the page never changes your fortune.
What is the agreement score (일치도)?
It is the share of the five readings pointing the same direction today (favorable, neutral, or take care). Closer to 100% means the five traditions speak as one; lower means each one sees a different grain in your day. The score also shows where the Eastern group (saju, I Ching, Ziwei Doushu) and the Western group (tarot, astrology) split.
Do I need to know any of these traditions beforehand?
No. CrossFates is built for English-speaking readers with zero background. Every term keeps its original name (for example saju, 사주) and gets a short plain-English explanation the first time it appears, so you can simply start and pick up the vocabulary as you go.
I do not know my exact birth time. Can I still use it?
Yes. If you choose "I am not sure of my time," CrossFates uses noon (12:00) as the basis and shows that assumption on screen. Because the hour pillar is missing, the precision of saju and Ziwei Doushu drops a little, but everything still works.
Is my birth date stored on a server?
No. Your birth details are never sent to a server. They are saved only in your own browser (localStorage), and all readings are calculated inside the browser. If you clear your browser data, your saved details are removed too.
How much can I see for free?
Right now, everything is free: all five readings, the agreement score, and the Tojeong Bigyeol yearly verse. There is no account to create. Ads may appear to keep the service running.
What is a "pick" and why would I make one?
A pick is the one reading that resonates with you most today, chosen as your "fortune of the day." Your picks stack up by date on the Past Picks page. Later, when you note how that day actually turned out, those notes become your own personal hit-rate over time.
The five readings disagree. Which one should I believe?
CrossFates never declares one of them correct. The five traditions use different methods, so it is natural for them to diverge. Read a split day lightly as "a day you can see more than one way," and a day where they gather as "a day with a clear grain."
How often do the readings change?
They refresh every day at midnight (Korea Standard Time). The saju day-pillar, the planetary positions for astrology, and the I Ching hexagram all shift day by day, so all five readings are computed fresh each day.
Can I rely on this for medical or financial decisions?
No. CrossFates is an entertainment service, and every interpretation is a reading of traditional symbolism meant to be enjoyed. For medical, financial, or legal matters, please consult a qualified professional in that field.
Tips to enjoy it more
- The most fun routine is to fan out the five readings in the morning to catch the grain of the day, then rate it on Past Picks before bed.
- Compare a high agreement-score day with a low one. The days when all five traditions speak as one really do stand out.
- A day where East and West split is a great day to share with a friend. Conversations like "the Eastern reading says go, the Western one says wait" come up on their own.
- If you know your birth time, do enter it. The saju hour pillar and the Ziwei Doushu myeongban get sharper, which changes the grain of the interpretation.
- Getting the same reading again on the same day is not a bug; it is by design. Because the calculation is deterministic, "your answer for today" is fixed as one.
- Tap the dotted terms in the text (sipsin, palace names, and so on) for a short explanation right where you are, so you never have to leave to look something up.
